JACKSON, Tenn. (Aug. 5, 2022)- Want to make a difference in the lives of elementary students?
Leaders Education Foundation is excited to support the new Jackson Art Box initiative for elementary students in Jackson-Madison County Schools.
The Jackson Arts Council heads this initiative. They uphold their mission to strengthen our community through arts and culture. They are doing this by, The Jackson Art Box. The Jackson Art Box project will provide students in the Jackson Madison County School System with boxes of free art supplies to use as tools for creativity and expression. Jackson Art Boxes will be given to JMCSS school counselors, who will receive professional development training and art activities to encourage student creativity and expression in safe spaces. Students will then be able to take home their art box to continue making art.
For a limited time, the Leaders Education Foundation is launching a matching campaign to help fund the boxes for the local school system. The boxes cost $15 to make. As of Monday, August 1, any donations earmarked for the art boxes will be matched dollar for dollar up to $7,000 as donations will be doubled until Sept. 15th.
"We are grateful for our community partners who value providing arts access to students," said Lizzie Emmons, Executive Director of the Jackson Arts Council. "With their support, we will provide 500 art supply boxes to our public schools this year."
These art supplies are to be used as tools for creativity and expression. This allows students to think creatively as well as process emotions in a safe space with a licensed professional.
"We love the Jackson Art Box," said Leaders Education Foundation president Leigh Anne Bentley. "This program supports our mission to help give forward. Projects that assist the schools in the success of children is a program we are proud to support."
You can donate directly through this link or by making a donation to the Leaders Education Foundation and when asked for a dedication, give "In Honor" of "Jackson Arts Box," and your donation will go twice as far. If you are already a foundation member, 200% will be donated. If you are looking to join, the first $10 covers your lifetime membership fees.
Leaders is excited for this opportunity to partner with The Jackson Arts Council to support students and educators with the needed art boxes to make a difference in the school systems.
The Jackson Arts Council created the Jackson Art Box project in partnership with Leaders Education Foundation, Jackson Rotary Club, the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, Leadership Jackson, B3 Creative Agency, and other gracious community members.
